GMM: Cesar Cielo captures the 50 meter butterfly World Championship crown with a 23.10. Matt Targett wins silver (23.28). Geoff Huegill nabs the bronze (23.35).
Cielo usually celebrates a win with a good cry. It's why the fans love him. He's real. He doesn't hold back. He can't hold back. Now his tears have taken a different slant.
The world's most respected swimmers, Michael Phelps and Jason Lezak included, have been voicing their disapproval of the Court of Arbitration's decision. In sum, they feel Cielo got a pass for his positive drug test.
BEHIND THE SCENES swimmers are saying the masking drug Cielo tested positive for doesn't pass the smell test. They believe Cielo got a pass because he's a darling of FINA, a big star FINA cannot sideline at World Championships or the London Olympics. Whether or not this is true (and I hope it is not), Cielo is, in fact, feeling immense pressure from his peers.

Cielo's tears at the Olympics were sweet and charming, but I think that's something he could only pull off once & only at the Olympics.
It was theatrical & over the top today. Awkward and embarassing.
