via www.forbes.com: With only nine weeks before a candidate city would have to be identified, U.S. Olympic leaders say any discussion of an American bid for the 2020 Olympics is still premature.
GMM: US cities that would like a bite out of the Olympic apple...New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas, Minneapolis and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Okay, those cities sound.........okay.
But what about Austin, Texas? With SXSW and Austin City Limits running so smoothly year after year, they'd make a nice candidate. And the University of Texas has facilities that work for many of the Olympic competitions.
L.A. has had the Games. In Cali, I'd go with the San Francisco Bay Area. Climate-wise it works. If you need warm dry weather, it's there. If you need cool weather, you've got that too, all within a 10 minute drive.
How about Charlotte and/or Raleigh North Carolina? Or Nashville, Tennessee?
I like Orlando, Florida too. Yes, it'd be hot and muggy, but the 1988 Olympic Games in South Korea was held in September for that very reason. A late September Games in Orlando could work.
WHAT CITY WOULD YOU PICK IN THE U.S. TO HOST THE OLYMPICS?
